Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information TapirUpscale ("we", "us", "our") collects, how we use it and the choices you have. By using this website, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Technical information your browser sends automatically, such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and the time of the visit.
  • Messages you send us, such as your name, email address and the text of your message when you use the contact form or email us.
  • Advertising and analytics data collected by the third-party services described below.

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name or email address just to use the video upscaler.

How Your Videos Are Handled

The video you choose is decoded, upscaled and encoded in your browser, on your own device. It is not uploaded to our servers or to any third party, and we cannot see it. The finished MP4 is created on your device and saved by your browser when you download it.

To pass the file from the home page to the processing page, your browser keeps a temporary copy in its own storage (IndexedDB). It is removed automatically when it has not been used for 5 minutes, and in any case within one hour. You can also clear it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate and maintain the website and its features
  • Reply to your messages and support requests
  • Understand how the site is used and fix problems
  • Show ads that keep the website free
  • Keep the website secure and prevent abuse

We do not sell your personal information.

Log Files

Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure records standard log data when you visit, such as IP address, browser type, referring page, pages requested and timestamps. This information is used to run and secure the site and to diagnose errors. It is not used to identify you personally.

Cookies, Local Storage and Cached Files

We do not set cookies of our own. To work properly, the site stores a few things in your browser:

  • Browser storage (IndexedDB) temporarily holds the video you chose, as described above.
  • Cache storage keeps the downloaded AI engine files, so later runs start faster.

All of this stays on your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings.

Our advertising and analytics partners may set their own cookies or use similar technologies. See the next sections.

Advertising

TapirUpscale is supported by advertising. Our advertising partners, including Google, may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to show and measure ads, and, depending on where you are and the choices you make, to personalize them. Ad partners may receive information such as your IP address, browser details and the pages you visit on this site.

Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before ads or measurement use cookies for these purposes, and you can change your choice later. You can also manage personalized ads through Google's Ads Settings or opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies at aboutads.info. Your videos are never shared with advertisers.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to understand how people use the site, for example which pages are visited and which errors occur. We do not send your video, its file name or its contents to these tools.

Third-Party Services

  • Hosting. The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the website. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
  • Software libraries. Some browser components used for AI processing are loaded from the jsDelivr content delivery network. When your browser fetches them, jsDelivr receives your IP address and browser details under its own privacy policy.
  • Advertising and analytics. Provided by Google and other partners, as described above.

Third-party services have their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies separately. Links to other websites, such as our X profile, are covered by those sites' policies, not this one.

CCPA Privacy Rights (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to ask what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion of your personal information and to be free from discrimination for using these rights. We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. Some advertising activity may count as "sharing" under California law; you can opt out through the ad controls linked above. To make a request, contact us at the email address below.

GDPR Data Protection Rights (EU Visitors)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Ask us to delete your data
  • Restrict or object to how we process your data
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To use any of these rights, contact us at the email address below. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy

TapirUpscale is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including HTTPS on every page. Because your videos are processed on your own device and never uploaded, they are not exposed to our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it now and then.
